I find this all very odd.

www.guildwars.com
and
www.guildwarsfactions.com
are both registered as domains by ANet, and both addresses take you to the GW homepage.

www.guildwarsnightfall.com
and
www.guildwarsutopia.com
on the other hand are registered to NCSoft. The NF address leads to nothing at all, and the Utopia address takes you to "The future home of guildwarsutopia.com". Also, the Utopia domain was registered only 2 months after the NF domain.

I beleive that if there was a "utopia" it would be a false front. All socities that have artists the live the life of luxury, also have ditch diggers that dont.

That could be the plot, we are liberating the "ditch diggers", we could go there to prevent a civil war and find that it is really a slave revolt.

Ok here is an idea that was presented a LONG time ago about chapter 4
It was ATLANTIS.

According to the myths about the real-world atlantis, it was a place of peace and harmony, a utopia. It was also off the coast of Greek as some myths suggest. Lord Ordan might have been a mursaat, in GWP manuscripts it says he was a master wizard, a mystique. That sounds like mursaat. Also pay attention to that bizarre NPC appearing in Elona. http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Bahltek for more info.

So as far as I know, mursaat city could be something similar to Atlantis. Read the description of Mursaat city and then read the description of atlantis.

This new NPC that appears randomly, Bahltek, is obviously speaking of Lord Ordan, cuz it is the only person we know that matches the description.

So let US all hope next chapter has something to do with Mursaat, cuz I really liked those flying THINGIES. LOL !

Antarctica and Snowy mountains idea, REJECTED.

Guild Wars Utopia makes you think of DINOSAURS? How!?

That aside, I think of Dredge when I hear this. They are a young society, looking for a better way to live. Utopia, being originally a political term in its modern context, could indicate their progression as a society.

Of course, Utopia also means a place that doesnt exist... and our real-world experiments with it failed, resulting in a conflict that almost destroyed the world (the cold war)...

Either way, I cant wait to see what they do with this.

I just hope they take a few extra months to make it, call it Guild Wars 2, maybe even not allow character transfer between 1 and 2, and give us something REALLY special, hopefully with a focus on good ideas that never got fleshed out fully (my primary concern with the entire GW as-of-yet trilogy: dropped plotlines and missing content). I for one would like to meet this guy:

Or, ya know, use a halberd or other polearm (or flail, etc). Im a sucker for varied melee weapons, Ill admit it.

Actually, looking at the concept art there is alot of technical / mechanical elements in it that I am curious about. Technology has never played an all too prominent role, and where it does it is augmented by magic. Id like to see a straight cyber/steampunk civilization. Perhaps they made a Utopia for themselves, using their its innovation and science. Perhaps, this wasn't quite as good of an idea as they original thought.

But, yeah, in summary - PICK UP DROPPED PLOT (or plot that got cut from the original release versions).

Guild Wars: Utopia...makes me think of some kiddie game...lol...

I wouldn't mind visiting Mursaat homelands. Would be quite interesting to side with Mursaats...if I'm correct they didn't mean to be evil anyways.

But...the name...ugh...I hate it lol

So, we have a [potential] name... does that mean it's speculation time?

Oooh ooh!

Alright, if I had to guess, it would have to deal with an Atlantis-like island/world, as Lord-UWR said. However, I'd say it would deal with the three continents possibly trying to re-create the City of Arah, or the City of the Gods.

This is what I'm thinking: The Tyrians, Canthans, and Elonians decide to explore a fourth continent - a huge island. They find many lost cities and temples to the 6 gods, and decide to recreate this lost civilization as a foothold for a new world order, claiming it to be a new Arah. The whole plan is to create one giant Utopian Society between the three continents.

It becomes the player's jobs to explore this lost world, discovering mysteries to the civilization's disappearance. Where does it lead from there? Perhaps Mursaat, Seers, Margonites, Forgotten, or something entirely different. Who knows? It could have many possibilities.

Also, any cultural influences could show up here. The Mayan/Aztec influence that was mentioned as rumor a while ago would work great (Atlantis-like). Or Roman/Greek, Norse, Native American, etc. Any of it could work great for a lost world.

Ok... where is the Flail???
I see chains, a hood, a shield, a what looks like to be a quiver of arrows. This looks like a mix of a paragon and dervish.

No Flais there my friend, you sir, are high

Reading the link that Lord-UWR posted, it reveals a little on the new chapter but also opens up a lot of questions. As far as Utopia goes I had already posted the webaddress in another post for all to see. Also if they keep going the way they have been it may be based off the culture of "Shangrila" (I hope I spelled that right) in the Himalayain mountians.
"Shangrila" is a place of perfect harmony with nature and oneself, also here is a bit on it which I dug up:
"Shangri-La is a fictional place described in the novel, Lost Horizon, written by British writer James Hilton in 1933. In it, "Shangri-La" is a mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a lamasery, enclosed in the western end of the Himalaya. Shangri-La has become synonymous with any earthly paradise but particularly a mythical Himalayan utopia - a permanently happy land, isolated from the outside world. The story of Shangri-La is based on the concept of Shambhala, a mystical city in the Buddhist religion."

I got this off wikipedia.

If your going to make posts such as the one you made, dont make silly spelling mistakes, it blows the point completely. You are correct in that its not a flail,in the classical sense, but some images of chains, one of which it looks like the character is holding.

To the topic of the thread, Guildwars Utopia, I think this is an interesting direction. I too would like to see it lighten up a bit, it seems games always go for dark and brooding, its getting to be like a cliche.

This is very interesting at least it will give us a little insight in to what we should expect. Though on another note the first expansion where I can't play my characters from previous campaigns will not be an expansion I will buy. :[
